Letter to future self

Dear future self,

My year in Gri11 2.0 was my best year ever at CSNS! Some of the things I have been involved in are hockey, touch, dance NZ made, Kapa Haka, kids for kids and much more.
At the start of the year I thought it was so cool that we had four huge learning spaces. There are also one to one devices.

One part of the year that I really enjoyed was camp. Some activities that we did were  horse riding, rifle shooting, sling shot making, art, challenge course, first aid and freeplay. Another thing we did was go into the glow worm caves. It was so fascinating watching the glow worms light up like light bulbs.

This year I also tried things I never thought I would try. I'm also really proud how my confidence has grown this year.

This year I met my perfect squad #squadgoals. Are you still friends with some of my best friends like Gihara, Ava, Ivy, Holly, Nadia and Anneka. They are always so nice to me.

My year at CSNS was my best year EVER!

Bike safety

On Friday the 4th of November the girls from GRI11 2.0  learnt about Bike safety. Constable McFlinn, a police officer came to the school and taught us some road rules. He taught us about intersections and round abouts. We also learnt how to indicate by sticking out our left arm to go left and our right arm to go right.

In the afternoon we went outside and took what we had learnt and put it into action. We were split ninto 2 groups and took turns at trying the course out. We practiced round abouts ,T intersections and turning.

Lara's Finger spelling video

A few weeks ago was sign language week so  my friend and I made a clip of us spelling our names in sign language.I hope you enjoy!

My role in the production

Have you heard of Cinderella and Rockerfella? College Street Normal School has done a awesome production. It is an exciting experience I'm sure you will never forget!

In the production, I am in a time dance and the ball room scene which are both in act 2. The production is called Cinderella and Rockerfella. It's a bit like Cinderella except instead of Prince Charming there is Rockerfella and he is a rock star. I am so excited to perform at the Regent, especially since it will be my first time.

The time dance is when Cinderella runs off in a hurry to get back home before the clock strikes 12. The dance is amazing, so I give a big thanks to the teachers that helped us prepare the dance so it is extremely stunning!

The ballroom scene is actually when Cinderella meets Rockerfella and there's a big dance scene. Everybody on stage does an awesome dance and I am so proud with how it has turned out.

It is an amazing story and production that I am proud to be apart of.
Come see the College Street Normal School production on the 4th and 5th of July! We hope to see you there!

My Favourite thing to do in Gri11 2.0

My favourite thing about learning in Gri11 2.0 is our super cool classroom and being able to work wherever I want. I enjoy working in the Hub which is our 2 main classrooms. Im always excited to learn with my friends so that they can help me when I'm stuck.

I love to choose where I sit because I get to choose who I sit next to instead of sitting next to the same to people everyday and at the same desk. Now I get to choose where I sit in any of the rooms.

One of the best parts about all this is that we have lots of cool furniture in our classroom like white board tables, comfy chairs and heaps of awesome places to learn and sit. Also sometimes we get rewarded like by getting to watch a basket ball game.

We get to do really fun things while we are learning in Gri11 2.0.

Haunted

It was a cold a stormy day. There was a teenage girl wondering around town. She thought she would be gangster if she she vandalized a building. So eventually on Friday the 13th she found an abandoned building. She pulled the door knob with all her might. Unfortunately it would not open. She found a window and decided to smash the window. She slowly creeped in.

She switch on the lights and creeped threw the isles. She keeped going further and further into the shop until the lights suddenly turned off and she could see nothing except for pitch black. She sprinted towawards the front door but it was locked. All of the electronics in the store turn on and chased the girl. Eventually the teenage girl was cornered. She got a shiver down her spine. She suddenly realised that there was a door behind her and a struggled to open it. She started to panic so she kicked it open and slammed it behind her.

She sighed a breath of relief. There were no lights in the room but then she remembered that she had a torch in her pocket. She searched the Room but it was completely empty. The something uickly turn around to see an evil Niall cat. She knew what she had to do. She had to defeat the evil Nian cat!!! She found a sword in the corner and did what she had to do.

Very soon after the evil Nian cat was defeated all of the lights turned back on. She was so happy it was all over and then afterwards she went and ran home to her family.

Old school day

On Monday the 10th we had a traditional teaching style day.  Traditional teaching style is when everybody in a class goes old school that means no devices, no laughing, no smiling and no coughing in class. It was like a black and white movie and also a night mare. Traditional teaching style doesn't help at all with my agency and if your wondering what agency is it is like driving my own learning and it does not help in anyway.

After it was all over we did a CSI. A CSI stands for colour, symbol, image. you use a colour, symbol and image to expresses your feeling for the reason of your CSI. This is my CSI the first one is about how I feel about learning in gri11 2.0 and the  second one is  about traditional teaching style.

Sports rotation

Every Tuesday the senior syndicate has sports rotation. A few of the sports that we have are hockey, bandminton, tennis and basketball. This is how It works: Gri11 2.0 splits into two group, one is the girls and the other is boys. The first sport that we do is 45 mins and so is the second sport. We only ever have two sports for the day. The person who coaches us is Nittin from manawatu hockey and sometimes Liam From Gri11 2.0. The place that we do hockey is on our school turf.

My favourite sport would have to be hockey because I'm really good at that sport and it was the first sport I ever learnt to play. I'm always really excited to play hockey when it's one of the two sports for the day. I also really like bandminton and tennis even though I'm not good at them it's still really fun to play and learn. I improved on quite a few skills but the skill I improved on most was juggling a hockey ball.

It's really fun doing sport rotation and espically doing my favoutite sport!!!

SLEEPOVER PARTY

2/5/16

In the middle of the holidays on Saturday Ava and I had a sleepover. She finally arrived at my house and then began to play. The first thing we did was make musical.lys. It's a really fun app where you lip sync and make up actions to the music. The first one we did got heaps of likes. Later that day we went on my trampoline and bounced around. I was really having a blast.

It got late and eventually it was time for dinner. We had dominos pizza for dinner and it tasted so good and then we watch a movie. After the movie Ava, Kama and I did the chubby bunny challenge. The chubby bunny challenge is where you have a few people and then go around to each person and they grab one marshmallow at a time a say chubby bunny three times. The person that fits the most marshmallows in there mouth wins. Kama (my sister) was the first on to get out. I was about win but suddenly I spat them all out into my bowl and Ava won! I tasted defeat. It then time to go to bed so went to sleep.

The next morning we went on the trampoline after having left over pizza for dinner. Sadley the trampoline was completely soaked. Yet we still bounce and surprisenly the rain made it bouncer! Ava was leaving at 10:30 so she called her parents and made an extension.
She was now going home at 12:30!!! For the rest of the time we did what ever fun things we could find.

It became time for Ava to leave. We had so much fun and after I got to go to the plaza and get frozen yogurt!!!

Swimming sports

Swimming sports

The whole senior syndicate went to the lido on Tuesday for almost the whole day. We did non competitive races and the finals of the competitive. We also did relays and fun relays.

In the non competitive races I entered were backstroke and flutter board 25m races. I came 5th in backstroke and there were 6 people but in flutter board I won my race!!! There were loads of options to choose from like backstroke, flutter board, freestyle and breaststroke for example. Sadly did not get into the finals. But some of my friends did.

There were also fun relays where all the different teams, which are Kea ( which I am in), Takahe, Tui and Weka. There were tubes and foam surf boards. It was extremely hard in the tubes to get to the other side of the 25m pool. Kea ended up not doing very well because we had one of the tubes.

There were also relays that had the best 4 people fun each team. Everybody did 25m of freestyle. I'm still not too clear on who won the race sadly.

I had so much fun at the lido because I love to swim.

Weetbix Tryathlon

                                      The Weetbix Tryathlon

On the 24th of March I went to the Weetbix Tryathlon!!! I rolled my bike up to the transition zone and got my swimming cap. After I parked my bike into the 10 year olds line, I put all the gear I needed next to it. I did everything in this order, The swim then the bike and finally the run. The swim was 100m, the bike was 4km and the run was 1.5km.

Unfortunately on the day It was all rainy. All of the girls my age were freezing before our race because we were just in our togs and nothing else! We were all huddled together trying to keep warm. Finally we walked up to the pool.

When the 10 year old girls  got there we all sat on concrete steps, I waited long then it was finally my turn. I then swam the 100m. Afterward when ran to where we parked our bikes and biked the 4km, then went back in to where we park our bikes and left my bike there. Then finally we did the 1.5km run. when I got close to the end I use up the last of my energy and sprinted down the finish line. I then received my medal. I took a photo with my friends, Zara, Yutong and Stevie. I also got an apple and ice block afterwards.

Later that day there was prize giving at 2pm. Sadly I did not get anything. But the good thing is that my school got donated $300 because we had the most Weetbix kids at the Tryatlon. When everything was done I got my bike and went home. I had an awesome day and I am definitely coming back next year!!!

Swimming

23/3/16

This term in GRi11 2.0 we have our swimming sports and swimming safety!!! We have three swimming safety lessons and 1 big swimming sports, we also have one none competitive swimming sports as well.

With swimming sports I entered 1 swimming stroke which was back stroke, the most I was aloud to enter was 2 strokes but I only wanted to enter 1. The strokes that there was, were back stroke, freestyle, breastroke, butterfly and meadley which is all 4 strokes. I am really looking forwards to to that!

There is also swimming safety sessions that I am looking forward to unfortunately I missed a session because I was sick  but I am still really looking forward to the other 2 sessions. One of my friends told me that I was in the top group for swimming! There is the yellow group ( the one I am in ) which is the top one, the green group which are people that can swim quite well but don't know how to  swim many strokes and red, which are people that need a bit more help than others.

I am really looking forward to swimming because I am really enjoy it!

My favourite place to work in GRi11 2.0!!!

9/3/16

This post is all about my favourite space to work in here in GRi11. This year in GRi11 2.0 we have 4 giant spaces!!! Every space is based on Hauora which means wellbeing. They are The hub which is the big main learning space that you see as soon as you walk in and that room has every colour so it is the blue, green, yellow and red, The hall of fame which is a little hallway where you can work and where we keep all of the laptops in the morning and that room is all of the colours as well, there is also the hide out where it is always silent and that one is the blue room and there is the hang out where you can talk and the last room is the hang out which is the green room. My favourite room would have to be the hang out because I am aloud to talk in there and there is a wall I like to go behind and some sliding shelves I work in between, I also like to work in the hide out because sometimes I just need some peace and quiet.  This picture is of My friends and I in my favourite learning space!!!
